It's the Little Things....

Baby boy has been dealing with some tummy issues. He was sick for a week, puking every time he drank milk, so we decided to pull him off the stuff. We started it back up about a week ago and his little tummy has been messed up ever since. Last night was the kicker, and even though it was one of my worst nights as a parent, it was one of Big Poppa's best. He showed me once again why T and I are the luckiest people in the world.

T had been fussing all afternoon, and we could tell it was because he was trying to poop and couldn't. The shit really hit the fan (see what I did there?) at bath time, which is Daddy and baby's special time. While I was in there talking to them, T got on all fours and looked like he was working on something. He hadn't started crying yet, but we knew what was coming so we scooped him up and placed him on the towel on the floor (I already had to clean a poop tub last week, and I wasn't looking for a repeat). He immediately started crying, and since Big Poppa was sitting on the (closed) toilet right in front of him, T grabbed onto his waist and squeezed. And cried. And kept pushing, but nothing would come out. I tried rubbing his belly, and Big Poppa was rubbing his back, but there was just nothing we could do. I started crying and was told to leave because I was upsetting T even more.

He finally did potty, and it was the greatest feeling for all of us, but it was what Big Poppa did after that melts me. Of course he hugged him, and loved on him, but he also started congratulating him and being so excited for him! He kept telling him how proud he was of him and yelling "Hoo-Rah", and really celebrating that poopcomplishment. This is the kind of thing I do- I go overboard with the praise and celebrations over anything really, but Big Poppa never really gets on board with that. Sure, he humors me and goes along with anything I think up, but he sometimes lacks in the displays of excitement department. Honestly, there are not many things that get Big Poppa overly excited. Lucky for us, when it comes to his baby boy, all bets are off. He is T's biggest cheerleader (well second to me but that's just a given). It takes a real man, and great dad, to get so excited about poop and I sure am glad I was lucky enough to snag one.

I know I am one of the lucky ones, and I will never forget it. I am lucky because my husbands family taught him how to love with everything that he has, and he passes that on to my son. I am lucky because he loves me with just as much fierceness. How do I know you ask? If you knew us, and knew what he put up with, you would agree!

No one in the world will ever love T the way that his father and I do, and I will be damned if I ever let anything break up our happy home. If nothing else, I have to be there to witness all the silly things that sheer love for another human being will make a grown man do!

  1. Ah! That's really cute! Sounds like you've got a keeper!

It's amazing how the bath helps. :) I like to soak my feet when I wash the kid, (I know, that alone is kind of sad) but add poop bath water and, well, she got back at me! :P too funny!

Thanks for stopping by, I'm following you now!
